Where Telugu families live in Canada

The Telugu-speaking community in Canada has grown steadily over the past two decades, with the largest concentrations in the Greater Toronto Area — especially Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga and Scarborough — followed by Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and the Kitchener–Waterloo region. Many families first arrive as students or technology professionals and later settle permanently.

Festivals and community associations

Ugadi, Sankranti, Bathukamma, Dasara and Deepavali are celebrated across Canada every year, usually organized by regional Telugu associations. These groups also run language classes, cultural programs and newcomer support.

Find upcoming celebrations under Events and the organizations behind them under Associations.

Telugu food and groceries

Most major Canadian cities now have Telugu and South Indian restaurants, and Indian grocery stores stock staples such as sona masoori rice, tamarind, curry leaves and festival ingredients.
